Start with what must remain findable
Choose a few wanted examples representing the kinds of mail your rules could affect. Confirm that you can still locate them in the provider’s interface. Do not treat an empty inbox as the sole success measure. The title suggests a weekly routine, not a guaranteed adequate interval for every account. A mailbox carrying consequential or frequently changing information may need a different approach or less automation altogether.
Look for changed sender behavior
A source that previously sent only promotions may now send a useful service notice. Review whether the conditions in your register still describe the messages arriving. Do not silently broaden a rule to suppress every new exception. An exception may show that the underlying classification is no longer appropriate. Record the change without collecting sensitive contents in an unnecessary shared document, and choose manual review where the boundary has become unclear.
Inspect the cost of maintenance
Notice how long the review and corrections take. If you repeatedly search for missing mail, explain confusing moves or repair conditions, the system may be too complex. Compare with a simpler native routine rather than adding another rule to repair the last one. A cleaner is meant to serve the reader’s task; maintaining its configuration is not an independent reason to continue paying or expanding its scope.
End with one deliberate adjustment
Leave a working, understandable setup alone. If evidence calls for a change, make the smallest relevant adjustment and preserve its previous purpose in the register. Avoid changing several applications at once, because later results become difficult to attribute. Mark unresolved observations and stop destructive actions when necessary. This regular review is an original suggestion, not a product guarantee or a claim that any cadence prevents every possible mailbox mistake.
